Blue in Green Gardens began as a tiny plant and shop on a quiet Greenwich Village street. Over 20 years later, we’ve grown into a full service landscape design, installation, and maintenance firm. We offer comprehensive garden design services in NYC, specializing in townhouse garden design, terrace garden design, rooftop garden design. We also work closely with condominiums and residential managing agents to design amenities and courtyard spaces. Always driven by a focus on sustainability, we strive to use native plants from local growers aiming to nourish our NYC pollinators, and we often observe bees, butterflies, and birds in our many gardens.
Native New Yorkers Naima Green and Ruomi Lee-Hampel have been friends since high school, and have been collectively greening NYC for over 20 years. Raised in Park Slope Brooklyn, with a tiny backyard of her own, Naima started her career as a ballet dancer. After being sidelined by a knee injury, Naima turned her focus toward a botany degree, then a horticulture degree from the New York Botanical Garden, and has been designing gardens ever since. Ruomi Lee-Hampel was raised in the arts, and later attended LaGuardia HS and NYU for training in acting and filmmaking. He has always valued the logistics required to bring a creative vision to life! Ruomi leads the efficient and passionate team we've assembled to install and maintain our diverse gardens.
