ECO/SUSTAINABLE GARDENING
The staff of blue in Green is dedicated to working with our clients to be as environmentally conscious as possible. We recommend and participate in everyday practices which encourage this philosophy. Here are some examples.- Every last bit of our garden waste is picked up by a composting specialist, not bagged and collected by garbage trucks to ultimately be dumped into a landfill.
- Every last plant pot left over after installation is brought back to the nursery for re-use.
- As often as possible, plants that are discarded in large renovations are donated to public parks and community gardens, instead of ending up in the trash.
- Instead of using harsh chemicals to cure our plants of debilitating insect problems, we employ the use of beneficial insects, whenever possible, as a method of biological control.
- We often incorporate the use of native plants in our gardens, rather than planting invasives that clog our waterways and push out the native species in our delicate city ecosystems.
- We encourage the use of backyard composters and rain barrels, and can help our customers purchase and install them with efficiency.
